How I Support My Gut Health While Camping

There’s something about camping that resets everything—our pace, our routines, even the way we eat.
But when it comes to gut health, especially for me, I’ve learned that a little intention goes a long way.
Because while camping is meant to feel simple and freeing, it can also bring changes that throw things off—different foods, less routine, more stress on the body, and long days outside.
So instead of leaving it up to chance, I support my gut in a way that feels both prepared and sustainable… bringing a mix of daily essentials and a few “just in case” remedies that help me stay grounded, comfortable, and able to fully enjoy the experience.
Why Gut Health Matters More While Camping
When we’re out of our normal rhythm, our gut feels it first.
Things like:
- Irregular meals
- Travel and disrupted sleep
- Different water sources
- More processed or convenience foods
- Stress (even the good kind)
All of it can impact digestion and overall gut balance.
For me, supporting my gut isn’t about control—it’s about creating enough stability so I can actually relax.
My Daily Gut Health Support
These are the non-negotiables I pack every time—simple, effective, and easy to keep consistent.
Just Ingredients Probiotic Drink Mix

This is one of the easiest ways I keep my gut supported while traveling.
It’s quick, convenient, and doesn’t require refrigeration—making it perfect for camping.
Why I bring it:
- Daily probiotic support to keep digestion steady
- Helps maintain gut balance even with food changes
- Easy to mix into water and take on the go
It’s one of those small habits that makes a big difference in how I feel throughout the trip.
Bonus Tip: We bring a osmosis machine with to ensure we have good drinking water while camping, and to help keep my digestive track calm.
My “Just in Case” Gut Support Remedies
These are the things I hope I don’t need—but always pack.
Because when something feels off, having the right support on hand can completely change how quickly you recover.
L-Glutamine
L-Glutamine is one of my go-to gut-support supplements.
Why I bring it:
- Supports the gut lining
- Helps during times of digestive stress
- A simple way to restore balance if things feel irritated
Colostrum
Colostrum is something I keep on hand for extra immune and gut support.
Why I bring it:
- Supports gut integrity
- Helps with immune response
- Great during travel when the body is exposed to more variables
Milk Thistle
Milk thistle is more of a behind-the-scenes support—but an important one.
Why I bring it:
- Supports liver function (which plays a big role in digestion)
- Helps the body process richer or unfamiliar foods
- A gentle, supportive addition to overall gut health
DIM (Diindolylmethane)
This one is less about immediate digestion and more about overall balance.
Why I bring it:
- Supports hormone balance
- Helps the body process sugar
- Helps the body stay regulated during routine changes
- Indirectly supports gut health through internal balance
Ashwagandha
Gut health and stress are more connected than we think.
Why I bring it:
- Helps regulate stress response
- Supports nervous system balance
- Useful when travel or disrupted routines start to take a toll
Self Heal (Prunella Vulgaris)
This is one of my more herbal, traditional remedies.
Why I bring it:
- Supports overall immune and gut health
- A gentle, plant-based option to have on hand
- Feels aligned with a more natural approach to healing
Note: This is not a supplement that should be taken consistently, only when needed.
Fo-Ti (He Shou Wu)
Fo-Ti is one of those supplements I keep tucked away—something I don’t use often, but value having on hand.
Why I bring it:
- Reserved for more serious moments when my body needs extra support
- A traditional herbal remedy I keep as part of my deeper “just in case” layer
- Something I’ve chosen to include based on my own experience and intuition
For me, this isn’t an everyday supplement—it’s something I keep available for specific situations, including times when I experience GI bleeding.
It’s part of having options… without overcomplicating things.
How I Keep It Simple
I’m not trying to follow a perfect routine while camping, that’s too stressful.
Instead, I focus on:
- Staying consistent with a few key supports
- Listening to my body
- Having options when I need them
That’s it.
Because the goal isn’t to manage every detail—it’s to feel good enough to be present.
Rooted & Real
Supporting my gut while camping isn’t about restriction—it’s about freedom.
Freedom to enjoy the food, the slower mornings, the late nights around the fire… without worrying about how I’ll feel the next day.
Just a little intention, a few trusted remedies, and the kind of rhythm that keeps life feeling rooted and real.
