Create stylish DIY coaster decor using inexpensive vinyl flooring samples, felt, and Cricut vinyl. This easy craft makes adorable home decor or thoughtful housewarming gifts — perfect for beginner crafters or anyone looking for simple handmade coaster ideas.
I was helping my mom look for flooring that she wanted to put in her basement. We went to Home Depot and a few samples. After she chose her flooring, she was going to throw her samples away and I thought they would make really cute and inexpensive coasters.
I think these coasters are prefect for displaying at home, or they would make a cute housewarming gift.
Supplies

- Vinyl flooring samples (I got mine from Home Depot)
- Felt fabric (Dollar Tree)
- Permanent adhesive vinyl
- SVG design (mnraye.etsy.com)
- Cricut
- Glue Gun
- E600 Glue
- Scissors
- Top Coat (To seal vinyl and protect it from water)
Step 1: Cut Felt Fabric
Cut felt fabric so that it will fit behind vinyl samples and glue to the back. So it doesn’t scratch the surface.

Step 2: Cut out Vinyl
Cut out the design you want to apply to your coasters.
Step 3: Apply Vinyl to Flooring Sample
Add vinyl to coaster. Then add top coat to ensure that it stays when glasses are placed them.

Step 4: Seal Coasters
Apply a clear top coat to the coasters to protect the vinyl. I used Waverly Matte top coat for indoor/outdoor projects.
