DIY | Coasters

Sharing is caring!

I was helping my mom look for flooring that she wanted to put in her basement. We went to Home Depot and a few samples. After she chose her flooring, she was going to throw her samples away and I thought they would make really cute and inexpensive coasters.

I think these coasters are prefect for displaying at home, or they would make a cute housewarming gift.

Supplies

  • Vinyl flooring samples (I got mine from Home Depot)
  • Felt fabric (Dollar Tree)
  • Permanent adhesive vinyl
  • SVG design (mnraye.etsy.com)
  • Cricut
  • Glue Gun
  • E600 Glue
  • Scissors
  • Top Coat (To seal vinyl and protect it from water)

Step 1: Cut Felt Fabric

Cut felt fabric so that it will fit behind vinyl samples and glue to the back. So it doesn’t scratch the surface.

Step 2: Cut out Vinyl

Cut out the design you want to apply to your coasters.

Step 3: Apply Vinyl to Flooring Sample

Add vinyl to coaster. Then add top coat to ensure that it stays when glasses are placed them.

Step 4: Seal Coasters

Apply a clear top coat to the coasters to protect the vinyl. I used Waverly Matte top coat for indoor/outdoor projects.
