Button Down Tops

Can be styled to look cute, and are easy to get access to your breast, but it isn’t very quick. Little buttons can be the bane of your existence with a hungry baby.

Word of caution when shopping online. I may look like a true button down, but some shirts the buttons are just for decoration. If it is a half button down, then would avoid fabrics that do NOT stretch.

Cross Front Tops

Great for easy access, can be a little tricky based on if there is a clip or button to keep the garment closed when you are not breastfeeding. Would be perfect for Fall. If it has a deep v neckline then you’re golden. As long as you are okay with showing that much skin šŸ™‚

Word of Caution: When shopping online, it is hard to tell if these tops have a closer or not, or if it is sewn shut which would defeat the purpose of being breastfeeding friendly.

Cross Front also applies to dresses. I wore this dress for my son’s Baptism, paired with a white cardigan and it worked great for breastfeeding.

Half Zip Tops

These types of tops I found to be perfect, although they were sometimes hard to unzip with one hand. And my little monster did tend to spill milk on the shirt, but I think that is a risk with any top you are breastfeeding in. Just make sure the fabric has some stretch to so you can push it to the side while breastfeeding.
