Why I use products that are Paraben Free.
A little bit of background, parabens prevent bacteria and are a preservative that companies put into their product to make them last longer. They are commonly found in beauty products. Unfortunately in our bodies, parabens mimic the hormone estrogen. Too much estrogen for some, means very painful menstrual cycles. I happen to be one of those lucky individuals. There is also a chance that Parabens are linked to cancer. That is not my reason for avoiding them, but it doesn’t hurt.
I really appreciate how makeup sites such as Sephora, Ulta, and Target are providing filters, making it easier to find products that are Paraben-Free.
There are several types of parabens to keep your eye out for.
- Butylparaben
- Methylparaben
- Propylparaben
*Pretty much any word that contains “paraben” when listed in the product ingredients.
Skin Care Products
The largest organ in the human body is the skin, especially on sensitive areas such as your face.
